ICAN is committed to providing our customers with the most current and
capable software available.
A new software (5.0.94) is to be introduced for the Saab Transpondertech
R4 Navigation System Display Unit (p/n 7000 108-035).
The new features compared with the current production sw version 5.0.91 are:
- Tidal Predictions.
- A calculator for tidal predictions based on the ‘simplified harmonic
method’ has been added to the system. To make use of this function, the
user is required to obtain and input tidal parameters for specific ports
from part III of the Admiralty Tide Tables, published by the U.K
Hydrographic Office. This enables a tidal prediction to be calculated
for any suitable point in time for these locations.
- Increased resolution of distance information.
- Resolution of displayed range information (e.g. distance to next
waypoint)for short distances has been increased. For distances below
1.00 in the selected unit (NM, Km or Statue Miles), the value will be
displayed with three decimals without the leading zero.
- Increased number of transmitted active route waypoints.
- It is now possible to select the number of remaining waypoints in
the active route to be transmitted in the RNN/WPL format. This is
defined by the ‘Rnn WP Limit’ parameter in the Nav configuration view.
This value can be set between four and thirteen. Previously, the next
four remaining waypoints have been transmitted per default.
- Display of HDOP
- Options for display of HDOP in user defined views have been added.
Manual
- A supplement to the existing operator’s manual will be provided to
describe the new features.
Compatibility
- The R4 Navigation System Display with software 5.0.94 is fully
compatible with all R4 GPS and DGPS Navigation Sensors (p/n 7000
109-019, -020, -140 & -141) with GPS software version 6.8-S2 or higher.
The display can also be used with GPS software 6.8-S1 sensors but in
this case adjustable smoothing of COG and SOG outputs will not be
available.
- Output of RTCM corrections is available only in DGPS units running
routing software version 1.07. This version is not yet available in
production.
Recommendations
- No actions need to be taken by users or integrators of new systems
as a result of this software change. Customers may consider the benefits
of the new features and decide whether an upgrade of existing systems is
desired.
