Survey Module
[Usage Overview]

It combines the power and ease-of-use of ICAN’s second generation navigation systems with specialized survey / data collection tools. Survey Module provides the ability to:

  • plot parallel leg survey routes

  • display MRE bathymetric data

  • log any or all information entering into system communications ports

These functions are presented in ICAN’s configurable operating environment.


 

Advanced Survey Planning & Manipulation

  • Customizable Parameters: Name, Description, Number of grid lines (legs), Initial course, Track spacing, Cross Track Distance (XTD), Way point alert distance, and Route ID.

  • All information stored in a Microsoft Access database.

  • Survey pattern can be edited in mid-operation and on a per-line basis.

  • Quick Survey Pattern generator for On-the-Fly Operation.

  • Export of Survey Pattern to normal system route for additional manipulations such as route re-order and waypoint re-use.

  • Position of pattern can be set by keyboard or pointing device.

 

Survey Monitoring

    • Tracks and displays the position of up to 6 sonar beacons.

    • 3-D display ship and towed acoustic transducer view InfoBox.

  • All information display updated at one second intervals.

  • Information can be displayed in metric, or imperial units, including standard navigation units (nautical miles, cables).

  • Sizeable Graphical 'runway light' cross track distance window.

  • Graphical sounder interface.

 

Data Logging & Distribution

  • Unfiltered logging of serial inputs, including sonar transducer position and GPS / DGPS data.

  • File-based distribution of logged data.

  • TCP/IP distribution of serial inputs.

  • Secure voyage recorder for navigation and serial data.

  • Playback of recorded data.

  • Single Interface for Import / Export of all recorded data.

  • Survey Module includes ICAN's MRE bathymetric data format for color coded "3-D" bottom imagery.

  • High compression lossless algorithm creates MRE bathymetric data from geo-referenced TIFF images resulting in a significantly smaller file size. This allows 3-D bathymetric display without requiring high-end computers. 

 

General Features of Interest To Surveyors

  • Seamless display of charts of ARCS, Geo-Tiff, CM-93, S-57, NTX, BSB, 256 colour BSB, MRE chart formats (others in development).

  • Course Up.

  • Point of Interest feature allows constant update of range/bearing to any
    point, marker or waypoint (station keeping).

  • Position input and display in UTM or Lat/Lon coordinates.

  • Ability to add other software modules including high resolution Radar Overlay, useful for coastline mapping (scanner up to 120 rpm, 8-bit radar image, raw radar data recording capable).

  • Cruise and Status Information

  • Associate surveys with jobs and gauges
